About the role
FMJ Plastics (Pvt) Ltd, a manufacturer of plastic packaging and accessories for industrial and commercial use, is looking for a suitably qualified HVAC Technician to join its factory team in Panadura.
The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting refrigeration, air-conditioning, chiller, cooling tower, and related HVAC systems.
This position is suitable for a technically skilled individual who can work independently, carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance, and ensure HVAC equipment operates safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
~ Carry out refrigeration system maintenance, including refrigerant charging and recovery.
~ Troubleshoot electrical systems and HVAC control systems.
~ Diagnose and troubleshoot compressors, pumps, motors, fans, valves, and sensors.
~ Perform preventive maintenance and maintain accurate maintenance records.
~ Read and interpret basic electrical, mechanical, and HVAC drawings.
~ Follow industrial safety procedures and correctly use PPE.
~ Attend to emergency equipment breakdowns when required.
~ Carry out maintenance and troubleshooting of chillers.
~ Perform cooling tower maintenance and troubleshooting.
~ Support HVAC equipment installation, commissioning, and repair activities.
Requirements
~ NVQ Level 4 in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning or an equivalent qualification.
~ Minimum 2–3 years of relevant industrial experience.
~ Experience in AC preventive and breakdown maintenance.
~ Hands-on experience in chiller maintenance and troubleshooting.
~ Hands-on experience in cooling tower maintenance and troubleshooting.
~ Experience in HVAC equipment installation, commissioning, and repairs.
~ Ability to work independently.
~ Good understanding of industrial safety procedures and PPE requirements.
