About the role
Ministry of Crab is looking for a dynamic and experienced Accountant to join its team in Colombo.
The selected candidate will be responsible for providing accurate and timely financial information on the company’s financial position, liquidity, and cash flow while ensuring compliance with applicable tax and regulatory requirements. The role requires a proactive and detail-oriented professional capable of managing a high volume of transactions across multiple business units.
Key Responsibilities
~ Oversee general accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, general ledger, and tax-related matters.
~ Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
~ Perform month-end closing activities and review bank and general ledger reconciliations.
~ Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial and management reports.
~ Prepare sales analysis, food and beverage cost reports, P&L, balance sheet, and variance analysis.
~ Prepare monthly management accounts and provide analysis on business performance.
~ Manage supplier and customer reconciliations and follow up outstanding balances.
~ Review and reconcile intercompany transactions and balances.
~ Maintain effective financial controls and identify cost-saving opportunities.
~ Assist with annual budgets and quarterly rolling forecasts.
~ Monitor and manage daily cash flow requirements.
~ Liaise with banks and handle banking-related matters.
~ Liaise with tax authorities and ensure timely tax compliance.
~ Prepare year-end financial statements and audit schedules.
~ Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory authorities.
~ Supervise and guide junior finance team members where applicable.
Requirements
~ Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or Business Management.
~ Full or part professional qualification in CIMA / CASL / ACCA / CMA.
~ Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role.
~ Excellent written and spoken English.
~ Strong knowledge of accounting regulations, standards, and procedures.
~ Hands-on experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks.
~ Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
~ Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
